SOHP relies on the volunteer efforts of our members to make things happen. Individuals who are interested in participating in one of these committees, please contact SOHP President Chris Cunningham (President@sohp-online.org) with your name, contact information, and information about preferences, special interests, or special areas of expertise.

Standing Committees

  • Communications Committee

    Chair: Wiston A. Rodriguez, San Diego State University

    Responsibilities that fall within the purview of this committee include the SOHP newsletter, the SOHP website, social media outlets, and additional outreach efforts. The functions of the communications committee are to:

    • Manage and promote the exchange of ideas among SOHP members and
    • Promote the activities and mission of SOHP to individuals and groups outside of the Society.
  • Education and Training Committee

    Chair: Ashley Nixon, Willamette University

    Co-Chair: Archana Tedone

    Members of the Education & Training Committee monitor the state of graduate education in occupational health psychology (OHP), encourage and promote the development of scientific and practitioner skills of the Society’s prospective members, and identify/develop resources for the OHP educators (e.g., sample syllabi, sample curricula, etc.).

  • Graduate Student Issues Committee

    Chair: Brittany Lynner, Colorado State University

    Members: Lora Bishop (DePaul University), Destiny Castro (Rice University), Aarti Polavarapu (Bowling Green State University), Emma Vosika (Clemson University), & Vicki Webster (Kansas State University)

    The responsibility of the Graduate Student Issues Committee is to facilitate networking, sharing of ideas, and development of collaborative relationships among graduate students in the field of OHP, and to identify issues of particular concern to graduate affiliates of the Society plus a designated liaison between the Executive Council and the committee.

  • Membership Committee

    Chair: YoungAh Park, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

    Member: Fern Wolburg-Martinez (Portland State University)

    The main functions of the Membership Committee are to promote membership in SOHP, to evaluate applicants for membership, to maintain information about the membership, and to encourage member involvement in the functioning of the Society. In addition, the committee provides a regular accounting of membership numbers and may initiate special projects to learn about member needs and to increase membership.

  • Practice Committee

    Chair: Zhaoli Song, National University of Singapore

    Members: Xinxuan (Alice) Che (Amazon, Xichao Zhang (Beijing Normal University), David Ballard (Past Chair; Independent Consultant)

    The purpose of the Practice Committee is to promote the inclusion and participation of practitioners in SOHP.  These practitioners can identify as psychologists or a number of other
    different occupations.

  • Scientific Affairs Committee

    Chair: Rebecca Brossoit, Rice University

    Members: Larissa (Lacie) Barber (San Diego State University), Keaton Fletcher (Colorado State University), Courtney Keim (Bellarmine University), Madison Hanscom (Newmeasures)

    The responsibility of the Scientific Affairs Committee is to support OHP research engagement and collaboration among academics and practitioners. The functions of the Scientific Affairs Committee are to (1) promote high-quality OHP research scholarship to non-academic audiences, (2) advocate for ethics and integrity in research among the OHP community, (3) promote sources of funding and support for graduate students and junior faculty, (4) connect members of the OHP community around the world who share common research interests, and (5) create a synergy between research, education/training, and practice in OHP.

Ad hoc committees and other appointed positions

  • Elections Committee

    Chair: President-elect

    The Elections Committee solicits nominations for elected offices and managers the election process. It is chaired by the President-elect, with additional members appointed by the President, as needed.

  • SOHP-online.org, Social Media Outlets

    If you would like to serve SOHP by serving as a Social Media Coordinator and Webmaster, please contact President@sohp-online.org

    Responsible for maintaining and updating the SOHP website. Coordinates with standing committees to provide current content for the website. Contributes ideas on how to maximize the effective use of current technology resources.

  • SOHP Newsletter

    Editor: Julie Lanz, University of Nebraska at Kearney

    Responsible for soliciting and editing articles for an electronic Society newsletter; works with the SOHP Webmaster to produce and distribute the newsletter.
