The Future of Total Worker Health and YOU
Facilitator: Cristina Banks, Ph.D. (S4TWH)
This session presents the latest information about the unique opportunity Total Worker Health researchers and practitioners can experience today and beyond in their careers. After the cancellation of the NIOSH Total Worker Health Program, many have questioned whether Total Worker Health can survive without the guidance and funding from the founders of this insightful approach. Not only can Total Worker Health professionals survive, but they can also thrive. Three factors underscore this prediction for the future: (1) The need for a more comprehensive and holistic understanding of the worker and organizational problems that exist today; (2) the growing pool of talent that can address these complex problems through educational and certificate programs; and (3) new efforts to greatly expand and enhance TWH professionals’ career development and job placement in the marketplace through the Society for Total Worker Health. Come hear the details of what is coming next!

Looking into the future of occupational safety and health: Research-to-practice and practice-to-research
Facilitators: Liu-Qin Yang, Ph.D. (SOHP); Cristina Banks, Ph.D. (S4TWH)
This session intends to bring together experts in the fields of occupational safety and health (OSH), from both research and industry settings. We will have a lively dialogue focused on what it takes to execute successful research-to-practice (R2P) and practice-to-research (P2R) “translations” in the future of OSH work, from both academic and industry perspectives. The experts will have an interactive discussion about what worked and what did not in their efforts to translate research-to-practice and practice-to-research. The audience will be encouraged to join in the dialogue on either side. The format of the session will be point/counterpoint, co-facilitated by the President of Society for Occupational Health Psychology (SOHP) Dr. Yang and President of Society of Total Worker Health (STWH) Dr. Banks.
Location: Room 250
